Another auction item today for Jenn's blog. Remember that all proceeds from this auction will go directly to Jenn's friend Christy's mom who was recently diagnosed with cancer. 

This time I was inspired in two ways by Jenn. She has a very artsy style that I love and I always learn so much from her. She inspired me to take an art journaling workshop this summer, and I have had a blast learning to work with all different types of gessos and mediums (I am usually just a stamper and colorer). I also love to see the different inspirational quotes that Jenn always finds-so I thought I would combine the ideas together to make my project. 

This piece is on gessoboard and to make it nautical, I gave it an "ocean" background with some texture from glass beads and opaque flake mediums, and added the MAKE WAVES sentiment that I think could be ocean related, but that most people can relate to their lives as well. I know "making waves" can have a negative connotation, but sometimes it's just a necessary part of life!

celebrating summer with the creative chick from the cape

 
I am so happy to be joining in on the July project over at Jenn Shurkus' blog this month. When asked to make something "nautical and summery", I knew it had to be something fun. I also knew I could not pull it off in the "Jersey Shore" style. It had to be Cape Cod all the way! I went on a little treasure hunt at the beginning of the month up to Parcel in Montclair, NJ to gather some nautical and summery goods, and one of the treasures I found was this old Cape Cod guide (pictured below) from the 60's which became the basis of my printer's tray.

  

My finished piece is up for auction over on Jenn's blog with a group of other nautical and summery items. The creations for this month are being auctioned for a great cause.

Her friend Christy's mom was recently diagnosed with cancer, and all proceeds from this auction will be going directly to her. There are some really great pieces included in the auction. I think some of them would be great gifts as well...and it's never too early to start your holiday shopping!

Here is the finished piece (just click on it to get a larger view). I think it would be just great to hang in your house (or beach house if you are that lucky) or give as a gift. There are three openings in the tray to add your own photos or memorablilia. Happy Bidding!

This week I decided to use one of the sketches from week one, since I did not have time to play along the first week of camp. I incorporated this weeks colors into my circle card, and used a few of the other techniques we have learned so far!

Here is another card for this week's color combination using washi tape. Really really simple to make, but I like the look. A great way to mix a lot of colors and patterns without a lot of measuring and cutting!

Just a quick card using this week's color combo (well as close as I could get it anyway). I made two using one of my favorite things-washi tape. A much as I hate to break into my stash, it is a super simple way to make a card! Here is the first one.

 Another take on this week's color scheme using some of the great techniques we have been learning in camp. This card has a little window perfect to showcase these little Heart Owls. I thought this card would also fit in perfectly for the Moxie Fab Stamp-It! Challenge...it sure has a lot of stamping! There is still time to play along, you have until midnight (12 EST) tonight!

summer card camp: week 3 (felt heart card)

I can't believe that it's the 3rd week of card camp already! I have certainly been getting a lot of inspiration from everyone's cards on the galleries. This week's color combination is not one I would usually pick, but it does look yummy! 

Here is my card based on these colors. I have had this little felt heart in my drawer forever, it came on some packaging I got last year:

tuesday trigger: moxie-fab inspiration from Stamp-It! Cards

Good thing this Tuesday Trigger over on Moxie Fab World lasted for two weeks. I have to say I was stumped when I first saw it. What would be the inspiration for my card? The lace, the blue washi tape, the colors?
