This is the most recent color trends challenge over at Embellish Magazine, this challenge requires using the colors pictured above as well as buttons (something I have plenty of).  Here is my card for the challenge:

   

tuesday trigger: autumn woods

It's time for another Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World...and this time I decided not to wait until the last minute. You still have until this Sunday night to play along. For my card, I was inspired by all these lovely pieces of colored wood. Aren't those reds just fabulous?

I definitely LOVED the colors in this photo and was also inspired by the fall feel of the photo. For my card, I used wood paper from Creative Imaginations, cut it in to strips, stained it with Distress Stains, and cut it into squares. I layered the squares with different widths of foam tape to really show the effect. To make the card a little more fall, I added some leaves that were also colored with Distress Stains and embossed with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel...

Here's a closer look at the leaves, I love how they turned out!

October Card Chain Challenge @ Lily Pad

I decided to play along with the Card Chain Challenge this month over at Lily Pad Cards. It is always fun to send a handmade card, and it is really nice to get one back once and a while. I have been doing swaps for a while, and have been able to send and receive cards from all over the world!

For this month's challenge I decided to focus on the color theme:

very merry circles

Just a last minute quick card for the October challenge over at Hero Arts this month. This month's themes are Holiday Cards, using non-holiday stamps to create holiday cards & a sketch challenge that has 3 fun sketches. Here are the sketches for this month:

sticky back canvas challenge

A few weeks ago I was visiting Jenn Shurkus, and she was showing me how to make one of the great art journals that she teaches in her classes in the New England area. It was such a fun project, I wish I lived close enough to take her classes at a shop!

We had some sticky back canvas left over when we were done and decided to have a little challenge to use the leftover piece on a project, and post that project today on our blogs. I decided to use it and make one of the cards I learned from Inspiration Showcase-an acetate card with sticky back canvas on the front. I love using sticky back canvas with my Mr. Huey's Mists, so I used them all (well almost).

 

For this card I used a Crafter's Workshop Eternity stencil (6x6 size) and my mists to make a rainbow pattern. I stamped the acetate card with the Hero Arts Friend Definition stamp using white opaque Staz On ink to make my background. This was definitely a fun challenge. tuesday trigger: treat yourself

This week's Tuesday Trigger over on Moxie Fab World is a picture of this yummy looking creation. You can play along with this challenge until Sun, October 9th:


For my card, I was inspired by the swirly look of the metal table, and the delicious chocolate and caramel colors. To make the base of my card, I embossed this stamp in white to replicate the table and used a technique I first saw used on some fabulous projects by Jennifer McGuire. I know this stamp has been used in this way many times since then, but I thought it would be fun to try a fall spin on it for a Thanksgiving card using darker Distress Stains (Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge, Brushed Corduroy, Scattered Straw).

paper smooches sparks challenge sept 22-oct 5

Here is the inspiration for the current Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge. I just received my first order of Paper Smooches stamps in the mail yesterday, and I LOVE them! For this challenge, I made two cards using the Santa Paws set.

For the first card I was inspired by the little green clips in the photo, and used them on my card to hang up my "bucks". This card is designed to hold the perfect gift...cash.

For the second card, I took my inspiration from the ruffle, and added it as a little decoration to the bottom of my card. I just love this little dog stamp, he looks great with the Santa hat!

There are so many fun things in this inspiration, that I was not sure where to start! I love it all, the buttons, the doilies, the fabric, and of course the little bird. For me, this was A LOT of inspiration, so I decided to focus on the three things that stood out to me the most. Here is my take on the trigger:
