tuesday trigger: stripe-tastic!

When I saw this week's Tuesday Trigger, I knew it would be a hard one for me:

I picked the two elements that really stood out to me: the stripes (of course) and the lace collar. The colors also reminded me of a party or a carnival, so I made the card a little festive. All my stripes are made with washi tape. It is hard to see in the photo, but the white tape has a lace pattern on it, which reminded me of the collar. 

   

Glad I got to play along with one more Tuesday Trigger before the New Year. We have been puppy sitting for the past week, and someone has been keeping me really busy! Happy 2012! 

big eyes notecards

I thought I had enough owl stamps until I met Big Eyes! This new stamp from the Hero Arts 2012 release has to be one of my favorites, it just makes me smile. I was so inspired by the card that Shari Carroll made over on the Hero Arts blog yesterday, that I had to make some owl cards last night. This set also fits into one of this month's challenge themes over on the Hero Arts flickr group-card sets.


Here is a look at the entire set. Each owl was stamped and colored in with distress inks. I stamped each one again and the eyes were punched out with a 7/8 inch circle punch, and adhered with foam tape. Then I added a little bling to each eye. The beaks are cut out and I colored over them with a glaze pen to make them stand out.


I used the Envelope Pattern stamp on the background of each card, and another new sentiment-Need a Friend. Don't these just make you smile? I know someone who is going to just love these!

runway inspired challenge #1

Something new and inspiring! I saw a few of the gals in blogland playing along with this new Runway Inspired Challenge and thought it would be fun to play along. What a fun dress for their 1st challenge...something from the Versace 2012 Spring collection. You should see the great cards that the challenge designers have come up with.

I took my inspiration straight from the gold studs on the dress..instead of a star pattern, I made a flower pattern with gold embossing, and added a few metallic accents to the centers. Super easy.

tuesday trigger: red and rustic

It's time for another Tuesday Trigger. This week is red and rustic over on Moxie Fab World. Here is this week's inspiration. I had good intentions of getting to this one early, but here's another last minute entry! 

I love the wood and canvas textures in the photo and decided to focus on that, adding in touches of brown and red. I started out with a card panel made of sticky back canvas, and stamped it with the Hero Arts Stitched Greeting (which is a little hard to see in the photo). For the wood, I used some trees and finished my card off with some red striped ribbon, and a wooden button. It will be perfect when I need a "holiday" card!
