simon says kids!: back to school challenge

Sharing a very special card today made by my niece Megan (age 5...almost 6). This very special challenge is for all the kids out there. Even if you don't have children of your own, you can post an entry of made by your own crafty pal-niece, nephew, grandchild, friend's child as long as they are between ages 2-16 and they will have a chance to win a fabulous prize from Simon Says Stamp.

For the annual Simon Says Stamp Children's Summer Holiday Challenge the theme is:

ANYTHING GOES!

As you can see below, Megan went by the theme of EVERYTHING GOES and added about 4 bottles of stickles to her flowered card. She would love to know what you think of it in the comments :)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything Goes

This week it's any Anything Goes challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog. The design team is using the new exclusive Simon Says Stamps dies this week. These dies are exclusive to Simon Says Stamp, but made by Memory Box so you know they are good quality!

For my card I am using this Brilliant and Strong set. I decided to go with a star theme and use the word Brilliant-colored in with some fun Neon Ink! To make my card, I made the background and added my sentiment, then die cut the word Brilliant out. I cut another Brilliant out which I colored in yellow neon, and replaced it in the negative space (after I had backed it with Be Creative tape). Then I took the remaining pieces of my background and used them to fill in the letters for a seamless look.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Dawny's sketch

Time for another challenge over at Simon Says Stamp. This week we are using this wonderful sketch provided by design team member Dawny. Here is a look at the sketch:

And this week the design team is using products from My Favorite Things (I just LOVE their dies!). Here is my take on the sketch using the Paper Doll clear stamp set and the Paper Doll Border.

inspired by a Hero Artist

Cards for Maddy and Melanie Card Drive

Just wanted let you know about the card drive that Simon Says Stamp is running for a 13 year old girl named Maddy.

She has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and will be undergong chemo in order to prepare for a stem cell transplant from her 15 year old sister Melanie.  You can read more about it on the Simon Says Stamp Blog post HERE.

If you can find a few minutes in your day to send a little bit of handmade encouragement for Maddy and/or Melanie in the form of a card, I am sure the girls and their parents would appreciate the happy thoughts.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: let's get fruity!

This week it's a fun and fruity challenge from the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog. It's up to you what to make, it just has to be fruity.  I used what came to mind 1st-FRUITY DRINKS from the Get Outta Town set from Paper Smooches. Notice I made one for me and one for you! I also used some of the great new washi tapes that I have been seeing over on Simon Says Stamp, there are so many fun ones.

neon word pops

When I saw this brilliant background idea from Julia Stainton back in January, I could not wait to try it! It is a fabulous use for Distress stains.  I have had these neon inks on my desk for a couple of days and decided to try and acheive a similar look for my backround by stamping dots of neon over this Word Pops image. To stamp the dots, I used one of the circle stamps from the Many Dots set from Hero Arts by turning it over on my clear block and using the flat side of the stamp so I would get a circle of ink. 

I love the look of neon and black and thought this new sentiment would add to the fun. Have you tried the new NEON INKS from Hero Arts yet? If you haven't, you are going to love them when you do!  

This card's color scheme also fits in perfectly with this month's challenge over on the Hero Arts blog. Make sure to check it out (and also check out Shari's great technique video) and enter for yourself. You could win a shopping spree to the Hero Arts online store!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: ATC or a tag

This week's challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog is to create an ATC or a tag. The design team is using Tim Holtz products this week, and it would be great if you did too (although it's not a requirement). For the challenge I used the Subway background, the Mini City Central set, and the summer Distress Inks to make this summery city themed tag.
