tim holtz holiday inspiration series: red nosed reindeer

Sharing a few of my projects this week that Tim featured on his Facebook live back in September. This card is a card that Tim shared over on this Facebook Live video featuring all of the holiday Stampers Anonymous stamps back in September. It was so fun and easy to make that I thought I would make a bunch of them at once, and share the process with you. I made 10 cards at once, and it was super easy! 

I first cut a bunch of 5 x 5 panels of Distress Watercolor cardstock, and applied paint to them through the Peppermint stencil using a foam blending tool. Make sure to use just a tiny dot of paint (smaller than a pea), and to dab it off onto your craft sheet before applying the paint through the stencil, so it does not seep under. 

It's not important to stencil the entire panel, since you are only going to see the outer inch or so of each side of the paper. Apply the paint through the stencil onto all of the panels. 

While the panels were drying, I cut out the Stitched Squares to stamp my reindeer on, using the die in the set that is 4 x 4.

Using the Stamp Platform, align the reindeer stamp on the panel, and stamp them in Ground Espresso Distress Ink. The stamp platform made it super easy to stamp a lot of panels all at once. 

Gather up the remaining supplies you will need: some Gumdrops inked up with Red Pepper Alcohol ink, and some Linen ribbon along with all of your panels. I applied the inked Gumdrops to my finished cards with matte Distress Collage Medium. (note: the dark chocolate panels are 4 1/8 square and the kraft panels are 4 1/4 square)  Once you have all the pieces together, assembly is a breeze...

Here is my last card in the inspiration series. I had a few that were featured on Tim's Facebook live that I will share later this week. For my card today, I wanted to showcase the star stamp from the Carved Christmas 2 set on a "starry night" background.

To create this card, I stamped the star with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink and embossed it with Ranger Holographic embossing powder, and cut it out. I also stamped and embossed it in clear embossing ink on my card panel of Distress Watercolor card stock that I had cut with the Sizzix Stitched Rectangle die, so the "carved" marks would show. 

To create the inky, starry night background, I inked up my panel with a combination of Distress Inks in Blueprint Sketch, Seedless Preserves and Black Soot (mainly on the outer edges). Then the entire panel was spritzed with water using a Distress Sprayer. Once the panel dried, I sprayed it with some Distress Mica Spray in Brushed Pewter. 

To complete the card, I layered the rectangle on a black yardstick from the Classic paper stash, then layered that piece onto a piece of silver metallic cardstock and finally onto a metallic gold card base. I then adhered the cut out star onto the card with foam tape.
