get cracking on christmas: january edition

I am not sure if you are just like me, but every Christmas season I have visions of the wonderful cards I will have ready to mail by Thanksgiving....in reality what I always have is a mad rush the week before Christmas trying to find all the addresses, get all the envelopes addressed, late night stamping of the cards and a MAD RUSH to the post office. What I also have is a ton of beautiful Christmas stamps that remain uninked. My friend Jenn Shurkus had an idea to change all that and I have committed to completing a month challenge along with Jenn and Chari Moss to get my holiday cards done throughout the year. We hope you will join us too!  

 

This year, we are going to get cracking on Christmas early and work to build our holiday card stash each month of the year. I love this idea and I began with pulling all my favourite stamps, dies, papers and embellishments into one bin to use throughout the year. I hope this makes it easy for me to shop my own Christmas stash all in one place.

My first card is a card idea that I taught in a Holiday Workshop in 2016. I had visions of using this card design for my holiday card, but never quite got around to it, so I only ever made one. The goal for this year is to create 10 of each card each month, so I will be well on my way by the holidays!

stained glass love alcohol ink cards

I had a lot of supply questions about the supplies I used on these Alcohol Ink Backgrounds I posted on Instagram the other day, so I thought I'd share here on my blog. For these cards I created a whole bunch of alcohol ink backgrounds and cut them to card size. Then I embellished them with different words from the Simon Says Stamp Stained Glass Love set that I watercolored in coordinating colors. All supplies are linked at the bottom of this post :) 

For this Happy card, I simply added the word and some Nuvo Drops in Dandelion Yellow...
 

And for this card, I cut the panel with the Mama Elephant Hexastar die set and added some Nuvo drops in Golden Sunset: 
 

For the final card, I heat embossed the Simon Says Stamp Center Cut Heart Background with white embossing powder (I went over the entire panel with an embossing magic pouch first!). I heat set it very slowly so my paper did not warp too much, by taking it on and off of the heat.

It's Day 4 of the Neat and Tangled release and I hope you love what you are seeing as much as I do. This is one of my favorite releases by far. Today, I am featuring the Dazzling stamps and dies. These crystals were so fun to color with my Zig clean color markers. When I finished coloring them I added a layer of Nuvo Crystal glaze over them...they are SUPER shiny in real life.

Happy New Year and welcome to a brand new year of releases from Neat and Tangled! There are a bunch of great things coming your way this week and this die set is no exception. I have so many ideas for this A-Mazing set, and today a clean and simple one for you. I cut the A-Mazing die from a panel of white Neenah Heavyweight cardstock and some hearts with glitter paper. To keep the card on the lighter side, I added a few googly eyes :)
