altenew: moroccan mosaic

Another card made inspired by the lessons in the Altenew Educator Certification Program. This time, the inspiration comes from the class In the Mood for Color course by Stephanie Klauck and I've gone with a warm orange and pink color palette desired to evoke feelings of courage (orange) and caring (pink). I love this Morrocan Mosaic set and for this card, I stamped and embossed it with Antique Gold embossing powder making it the perfect background to watercolor in. I love the warm, sunshiny tones that this card conveys and hope it brings some good feelings to the recipient. The sentiment was embossed in white onto gold foil cardstock.

altenew: watercolor dots

Hi crafty friends. I have been signed up as an Altenew Educator Certification Program participant for a while now, and have just gotten around to taking some of the classes I need to take to finish the next level of certification...I love Altenew products and have been using them in my classes for a few years, but I thought it was time to make it official! The latest class I have completed is the Beyond Basic Backgrounds with Lydia Evans. This class had so many fun ways to create backgrounds with all different types of techniques.

One of the lessons in this class created a background with 'water bleaching', which is a technique that I love the look of, but have not played around with it in a quite a while and this reminded me to revisit it. It's such an easy way to change up supplies we may already have on hand. To create this fun background, I inked up a watercolor panel with some of my favorite colors of Distress Ink using a foam blending tool, then I misted the stamp with water and stamped the panel. I thought the effect would look even more pronounced with a big bold dot stamp like the Watercolor Dots stamp set. 

To finish off the card, I added a some big bold flowers and a sentiment from the Inked Rose set...

Here's a close up of that fun background. I have a lot more classes to complete, and really forgot how fun it was to explore techniques...so I will be sharing some makes from the next few classes soon. 

 

 

tim holtz/stampers anonymous: funny farm

Hi crafty friends. I don't know about you, but I spent the last week looking at all the amazing new products that are coming out for Creativation! I was so lucky to be able to be able to design some samples again for the Stampers Anonymous booth again this year. If you have not seen it, Tim has a great wrap of of all the designers that worked with him for Creativation, and you can see them all on his Creativation recap post here. 

I was so happy to get the Funny Farm stamp set to work with, and while it's not the usually Tim style, I love the cute little animals and the whimsical sayings so much! I have a feeling you are going to love it too. For my project I made a Valentine inspired card using the cute little dog that is paired with the "I Ruff You" sentiment...

I created a few layers using the Polkadot and Hearts stencils. I cut the little tag from one of the Stacked Tags Thinlit dies. 

Then I watercolored in the little dog with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added some "grass" using one of the stamps from the Mini Media Marks set. I think he is super adorable!

tim holtz/sizzix: faceted heart

Hi there crafty friends! I'm not sure if you have been catching all of the Creativation sneaks from Tim Holtz, but there is a lot of really awesome stuff coming our way this year! 

I have been designing some projects the past few months, and today I wanted to share a couple using the Faceted Heart Thinlits die. The thing I love most about this die is that you get two dies in the package, one small and one large. I made a card with each one. 

The first card uses 6 of the small hearts cut out of a rainbow of watercolor papers that had been created with Distress Ink. I cut them out and arranged them on a panel that was cut from the Stacked Postage dies. 

For the second card, I used the bigger heart and cut it out of a sheet of yupo paper that I had colored with alcohol ink. I mounted it onto a card that was embossed with the Doily Texture Fade and added the word love from the Shadow Script Thinlit dies. Clean, simple, with one big pop of color!

This week our challenge is RECYCLE SOMETHING, it could be just about anything. I has a few magazines lying around, so I paged through one and picked a photo of a colorful background wall and cut it up to make the panel on my card. I added some glitter and shine by coating the front of the paper with collage medium and then spraying the Stampers Anonymous Glitter Duster over it.

There are new Tim Holtz Sizzix dies being released today!!! They are available to order at Simon Says Stamp and you can see them all HERE. I have a card to share with you today using the new Splat die. This die reminded me of topography and I decided to cut the layers out of different materials (cardstock, alcohol inked yupo paper, foil cardstock) for a fun water and land effect...perfect for a friend who likes to wander the world.

Hi there! Welcome to Day 3 of the Neat and Tangled release...today we are featuring the Heart Duo stencil. If you know me you know I loved the Balloon Duo stencils and have used them with Distress Oxides and blending brushes before, and thought that would be a great look for these hearts too!!! I stenciled and shaded them with my blending brushes, then I gave the entire card a quick spritz with iridescent shimmer spray and blotted it with a paper towel. To finish it I added a few clear drops...
