simon says stamp monday challenge: stars and stripes

Hi crafty friends, it's time for another challenge over one the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us in last week's Transport It Challenge and we hope you will join us this week too as we celebrate with Stars and Stripes...

This week I created a patriotic card using the Tim Holtz Sizzix United States Thinlit die cut from all different patterns of Stars and Stripes from the Correspondence Paper Stash. To make the background for my map, I cut a piece of Mixed Media Heavystock and inked it by putting Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink onto my craft sheet and spritzing it with water. Then built up layers and dried it with a heat tool. When it was dry, I added some stars with the Layering Stars shifter stencil with some gold ink and gave the panel some stitching around the outside. 

 

I placed all the states down with Matte Medium, then I cut the die out again with Metallic Kraft Stock and placed it over the already glued down states. I love the effect that the gold gives. To finish the card, I added a Clippings sticker and the USA cut from the Americana Side Order (which I cut and stacked 3 times). When it was all done, I glued the panel onto some different color papers from the Classic Paper Stash that I sanded with a sanding block.

Hi crafty friends, it's time for another challenge over one the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us in last week's Vacation and I hope you will join us again this week too! This week our challenge is Transport It. I'm really stretching it with the theme this week, but I am using this fan to transport me to a much cooler place than the summer heat. If you know me, I like to keep the temperature in my house on freezing :)

I really wanted to use this RUSTY CRUSTY background panel I made with Distress Oxide Sprays along with a vintage blue fan... 

To create my card, I created a "RUSTY CRUSTY" background using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays (you can see how to make this background and a few other awesome combos on Tim's post here). Then I stamped the fan from the Inventor 8 set 3 times onto Mixed Media Heavystock using Jet Black Archival Ink. I cut it out once and watercolored it and then cut the fan out of the second fan and layered them all together.

For the center of the fan, I added an Idea-ology Hardware Head on top of a Long Fastener so it would really spin!

Hi crafty friends, it's time for another challenge over one the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us in last week's Wedding/AnniversaryChallenge and I hope you will join us again this week too! This week our challenge is Vacation and I'm thinking about joining my mom in London at the end of the week! 

To create my card, I started with a layer of Antique Linen Distress Ink and water, and dried it to give my Distress Watercolor cardstock a vintage feel. Then I layered a few of my favorite layering stencils to create a colorful background. Then I continued to build up the background by stamping images from Citiscapes, an adding images from Noble Gent, Nature's Wonder and The Professor. I added a ticket from the Ticket Booth set and finished off the card with an Idea-ology Numeric number that I distressed with Candied Apple paint. I love the happy colors!

My first card for you today is made with the new Waves background. I embossed it in white onto some Distress Watercolor Cardstock and then painted it it in using Distress Inks as watercolors. The best thing about new backgrounds is they always work with other Simon products I already have on hand and today I have paired them with the Dude die and a sentiment from the Love Messages stamp set.

My second card is made with the new Round and Round Background and paired with a sentiment from the new Say It All set. You are going to love the combo of bigger and smaller sentiments that can be mixed and matched. I stamped the background and embossed it in gold, then painted it in with lots of different shades of pink. I stamped and embossed the bigger word in gold onto a Postage Edge Frames die and then stamped the matching sentiment in Doll Pink ink. The tiny heart comes from the Love Messages set.

I've created my tag this week using a background paper from the Altenew Pastel Dreams Paper Pack cut with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Stacked Tags dies. I have layered the tag with a picture from Photo Booth, Ephemera from, a Tiny Text Remnant Rub on a Classic Label and finished it with a Prima Sunset Beach Golden Coast Flower and a spattering of Tonic Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer Pen.
