simon says stamp monday challenge: let's get ready for christmas

This week our challenge is Let's Get Ready for Christmas, and I can think of no better way to get ready for wrapping up all that holiday shopping that topping it with some hand stamped gift tags...the new Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Seasonal Scribbles is perfect for creating simple, handstamped tags. I took a pack of remade Dina Wakley Assorted Media Tags and stamped away. These sentiments and images make creating adorable tags so easy. I added different ribbons and trims to finish them off and now they are all set to go onto a gift box, bag, or bottle of holiday cheer!

For my cards today, I created a small 3 1/2 by 5 set of note cards with the moon phases from the moon magic set. To get the color variations, I put the stamp on a stamp platform and stamped them with Distress Oxides. To get the effect of color variations, I first stamped in the lighter image, then added a darker ink and wiped it off the two outer moons before stamping again, repeating each time with a darker color until I got to the middle. I love the look of this, and with a stamp platform and a baby wipe it is very easy to achieve!

simon says stamp: tim holtz/stampers anonymous STAMPtember® exclusive set

You know STAMPtember® is always an exciting month, and the set I wait for all month is finally here...the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous STAMPtember® exclusive set. Usually these sets are a compliation of other holiday sets in perfect cardmaking size. This year's set is a bit different...these images are exclusive images and once this set is gone..it is gone! I love the idea of having a collector's item! Thanks to Tim and Heidi at Simon Says Stamp for making this happen, what a wonderful surprise!!!!

This year's set features a stamp and stencil and is full of fun creatures and matching sentiments. The stencil is full of fabulous stars, reminiscent of the Hocus Pocus stencil that Tim previously released, one pattern that is a swirl (used on the card below) and one pattern that is like a wave that fits perfectly across the card.



I created 4 cards with this set, and a little explanation of how I made each one:

For my first card, I used the bat creature and mounted it on a background of swirly stars that I created using Crackle Texture Paste and some Distress Crayons. I cut the sentiment from the bottom of the stamp using my Tim Holtz scissors and put it onto a sentiment strip....I usually cut the sentiments off of cling stamps like this and they are super easy to put back on your stamp platform to stamp together as one stamp at a later time, I have never had any problems doing this ;)


For the second card, I used a bright candy colored palette of Distress Inks and Oxides to create an inky background and mounted the bird on top of it, I finished off the card with some candies cut from the Sizzix Sweet Treats die out of Metallic Kraft Stock.


A clean and simple card stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink, colored in with Distress Markers and one Tim Holtz Idea-ology Creepy Eye for effect...clean, simple and creepy all at the same time!



For my final card, I wanted to use the stamps and stencils in a non-Halloween way, and I created a rainbow ink blended panel with Distress Oxides, then stencilled the line of stars over each color. I completed the card with some stars cut from Simon Says Stamp White Glitter Card Stock and stamped and embossed the sentiment on black to make it pop.

Today's card features the Starry Sky Background which is the perfect card size border. I stamped these stars in Golden Glitz Delicata Ink and let them dry. I stamped the butterfly from the Moon Magic set, and embossed it with gold embossing powder. I thought about coloring it after I die cut it,  but when I placed it on the card, I loved the look of the white space.

Hi crafty friends, it's time for another challenge over one the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us in the Monochrome Challenge and we hope you will join us this week too. 

 

This week our challenge is Stitch It...just use stitching on your project (real or faux) in some way. This week I created a tag with a Distress Spray Stain and Distress Oxide Spray background and stamped over it using Distress Oxides to create a colorful tag. I used the Stitched stamps to create faux stitching, combined with stamps from the Sideshow, Theories and Mini Media Marks Sets. This tag will be perfect to add to an art journal!

For my card today, I am featuring the Moon and Stars set. This is an adorable 3 x 4 set and was perfect to make a super duper easy galaxy sky. I wanted to give my card a vintage handmade look, so I tore a piece of handmade watercolor paper and then stamped and embossed the moon and stars in white.


I painted over it using Daniel Smith Watercolors in Lunar Blue and Indigo and then masked off the white areas surrounding the image before I splattered the area I had painted with a bit of gold. Once all of this was COMPLETELY dry, I stamped the sentiment underneath my image. Then I adhered the watercolor piece onto a kraft notecard. I love the look of the torn paper with the kraft.

Hi crafty friends, it's time for another challenge over one the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us last week in the Stamp It and we hope you will join us again this week for the Stamp It Challenge and we hope you will join us this week for the monochrome challenge. This week I challenged myself to use all browns which is definitely not my color palette....and I will admit, I'm happy with the results :) 

 

I stamped the Tailor stamp on the background and then added some stamped Fragments, and stenciled using the Screwed stencil. I stamped The Professor and colored him in with shades of brown and gave him a tiny pop of Peacock Feathers for his goggles. I finished the card off by adhering The Professor, adding some splatter and a sentiment from the Theories set.

Simon Says Stamp is celebrating STAMPtember® all month long with Simon Says Stamp exclusives, and we are using them this week on our projects. You don't have to use them on yours to participate in the challenge, but we would love it if you did! 

For my card this week, I painted the Plank Background in with the colors of Candy Corn using Carved Pumpkin and Mustard Seed Distress Inks. I gave it a little black spatter and added the new for STAMPtember CZ Design Trick or Treat die with a little witch hat from one of my favorite sets from last year Hollaween....
