simon says stamp monday challenge: inspired by an artist

Happy Monday crafty friends! It's time for another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge...thank you to all of you who played along with us last week and I hope you will join us this week for the Inspired by An Artist Challenge...

This week my card is inspired by the art of Ellsworth Kelly.  I love the clean lines and colors in his paintings and also bought a ton of the postage stamps when they released, and thought it would be fun to create a card to match one of the stamps. This week's card was inspired by the Colors for A Large Wall painting, which is featured on one of the stamps:

To make my card, I started by pulling all the colors of cardstock I needed to create a similar look and cut them out with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Stacked Squares dies. There are 5 sizes of squares in the set, and 5 dies of each size square, so it made the cutting super simple. I arranged the squares onto a panel of cardstock that I had covered with an adhesive runner and built out the pattern. Once I was done, I trimmed two of the rows of squares off to create a rectangle card, but you could leave it as a square. 

To finish the card I kept it super simple so it would not compete with the background. I added the CZ Design Swoopy Thank You, a Sentiment Strip and a few Studio Katia Clear Drops.

Happy Monday and welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thank you to all who played along with our Four Legged Friends Challenge last week and we hope you will join us again this week too.

This week our challenge is Frame It. So add a frame to just about anything, or even decorate a frame! I created a fun mixed media tag with stamps, stencils and pastes and made the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Curio Frame the focal point of this week's tag. I used the Numeric stencil to create a monoprint on the background of my tag and added layers with stamps and texture paste and a bit of stitching. I added a Found Relative with the Curio Frame and finished my tag with a Snarky Small Talk Sentiment.

Hi there crafty friends! Welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thanks to all who played along with us last week in our Things WIth Wings Challenge and we hope you will join us this week as well :) 

This week our challenge theme is Four Legged Friends and I created a tag with my favorite kind of four legged friend, a dog. There is nothing like a girl and her dog and I paired two images from the Paper Dolls Solos pack to create my tag this week. 

I started by adding Distress Matte texture paste through the Countdown stencil to a Mixed Media Heavystock Tag. Once the paste was dry, I sprayed on DIstress Spray Stains in Pumice Stone, Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed and Mermaid Lagoon and dried the tag with a heat tool. I added a strip of paper from the Backdrops Volume 2 and added stitching to it. I added a Stencil Card that I painted with Picked Raspberry Distress paint. I added the Paper Doll girl and her dog with foam adhesive squares. I colored the Adornments Heart with Gold Alcohol Ink and Distress Paint and then I added a Small Talk sticker for the sentiment.

Hi there crafty friends and welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thanks to all who joined us last week in our Feminine Challenge and we hope you will join us again for this week's challenge! This week our them is Things With Wings! That's right, birds, bugs, angels...put wings on just about anything, that is what I did! 

For this week's challenge, I created a fun mixed media tag using DIstress Paints, Collage Paper and lots of fun stamps including Field Notes, Correspondence and my favorite Media Marks 2...

To begin, I added layers of collage paper, paint and gesso. I added stamping, more layers of paint and more stamping. When the tag was dry I added stitching around the entire thing. Then I added the wings. To create these wings, I cut them out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock using the Sizzix Impresslits 3-D Winged die. I used a bit of Speckled Egg Distress Paint to the wings with my finger to highlight the raised areas. Then I sprayed the wings with Distress Mica Spray in Brushed Platinum to really make them shine. I added a Photobooth photo, some Clippings stickers and

reverse confetti: may new release blog hop

Hi there crafty friends! I am so excited to join my friends at Reverse Confetti for their May new release hop! See the fully list of hop participants at the bottom of this post. All the new products are AVAILABLE NOW! It's a fabulous release, filled with six new stamp sets, and 9 new confetti cuts.

 

There is so much cuteness and celebration to be had in this release and today I have a card for you using the new Punny Party set. I used the adorable kitty image and the "It's Sherbert Day" sentiment and created my card in a palette of sherbet colors...

 

 

To create my background, I used the Along the Dotted Lines Cover and used the wide side of a Copic marker to create wonky sherbert colored stripes next to each dotted line. I stamped and colored the image from the Punny Party set and cut it from the coordinating dies and embossed my sentiment in white onto black cardstock. I layered the image onto 2 of the Circle Rays Duo die cuts and added a few clear droplets to finish my card.
