villainous potion distress: all is calm all is bright card

Hi there crafty friends! Today I am sharing another card created with the newest color of Distress, Villainous Potion. This time, I turned into into a a peaceful wintry scene. The inspiration for the sky on this card came from the amazing Stacy at Tattered Nest Designs...check out her tutorial HERE. I created the sky on my panel in a similar manner using Distress Oxide Sprays in Villainous Potion, Milled Lavender, Victorian Velvet and some Distress Mica Spray in Crooked Broomstick along with a Moon Mask. I stenciled in the inside of the moon using the layering stencil that comes with the masks and some Pumice Stone Distress Ink. This card is a slimline card and my panel measures 3 3/4 x 8 1/4. 


Then I stamped the All is Calm, All is Bright sentiment from the Mini Bold Tidings stamps in Villainous Potion Distress Oxide. I cut the Mountain Top Thinlints Die and went over the mountains with Milled Lavender (top panels) and Victorian Velvet Distress Oxides. For the snow cap pieces, I went over them with a bit of Snowfall Grit Paste from the Seasonal Distress Holiday Texture set. For the tall pines, I cut them from Distress Watercolor cardstock and embossed them with Villainous Potion Distress Embossing Glaze. I love the shine and dimension it gives to the trees. 


To put it all together, I added a the Mountain Top die cuts to the card panel using Distress Collage Medium (matte). I turned the panel over and trimmed off any overhang. Then I added a piece of white cardstock that I cut to make a hill. Next, I added the glazed Tall PInes and also turned the panel over to trim off the excess. Finally, I masked off the sentiment with a post it note and added a splatter of Picket Fence Distress Paint over the rest of the panel. Once the panel was dry, I adhered it to a 4 x 8 1/2 notecard using foam tape. Hope you enjoyed creating this scene with me!

This week I used an Alcohol Ink panel that I had created using Mojito, Botanical, and Sunshine Yellow Alcohol Inks combined with Gilded Alcohol Ink Alloy. I moved the ink around my Yupo paper with Blending Solution and the Alcohol Ink Air Blower. 

I finished my card with a You are Loved die cut from Simon Says Stamp.

get cracking on christmas: october 2021

Welcome to another month of Get Cracking on Christmas. If you are new here, this is a project that I have been doing each month when time permits. The goal is to work on my Christmas cards all throughout the year in a challenge started by my friend Jenn Shurkus. By the end of the year, I have usually built up a bit of a stash to send out.

If you are like me, you buy so many holiday craft supplies with best intentions and just don't get around to using them. I love to go through my stash and see what I have not used yet and make sure I get to use something new. It always seems to create a bunch of ideas for holiday makes. I always like to create a few cards with no sentiment and a winter theme for my friends who do not celebrate Christmas to have on hand, and the Tim Holtz Cozy Winter bear seemed like the perfect die to use. 

I combined the bear from the Cozy Winter dies and the Tall Pines dies to create a little scene. I gave my bear a bright green felt scarf and added him to an ink blended panel created with Speckled Egg,Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks that had also been splattered with Picket Fence Distress Paint to create snow. I cut the snowflakes out from the Cozy Winter dies and added them to the blended sky. I gave each snowflake a dot of Star Dust Stickles for a fun finishing touch!

villanious potion fall leaves card

Hi there crafty friends! Today I have a card to share with you using the newest Distress color, Villainous Potion. I love the combo of fall colors on this one, and I used so many of the new products on it including the Distress Ink, Oxide, Oxide Spray and Distress Embossing Glaze. To create this card, I started by making the main panel and embossing a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock with the Foliage Texture Fades Embossing folder. I ran mine through my Vagabond three times. 


I used some Simon Says Stamp blending brushes to blend Distress Inks in Villainous Potion, Fossilized Amber, Carved Pumpkin, Festive Berries and Aged Mahogany. I made circles of each color then added some more layers being careful about the colors I was blending next to each other. I gave it a mist of water and then dried it with my heat tool and added some wonky stitching to the outside edge. 

To create the leaves, I cut 2 leaves from the Sizzix Skeleton Leaves dies and colored one with Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Spray and the other with Villainous Potion Distress Embossing Glaze. I love the contrast of the soft leaf and the super shiny one. Finally, to finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Stampers Anonymous Observations stamp set onto a piece of kraft colored cardstock using the Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Ink Pad. I adhered the panel to an A2 kraft notecard, adhered the leaves to the panel, and then added the sentiment over it using foam tape.

simon says stamp monday challenge: spooky/halloween

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for last week for our Fall Mood Board and we hope you join us again this week for our Spooky/Halloween Challenge. 

This week I created a tag with the new Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Spray, combining it with Twisted Citron and Black Soot Distress Spray Stain for a spooky Halloween color palette. 

I took a piece of White Distress Mixed Media Heavystock and cut a tag from it. Then I embossed it with the Arched Embossing folder. I added layers of sprays and stains, drying in between and added some Distress Mica Crayon over the raised part of the tag to make it stand out along with some Black Soot Distress Paint. 

Once the tag was dry, I added some Black Soot Distress Paint Splatter. To finish the tag, I added a Paper Doll from the Halloween Idea-ology Pack, some black leaves that I cut from the Skeleton Leaves dies, word stickers from the Curiosities Sticker Book, and a tiny piece of Ephemera from the Halloween Snippets.

Make it Merry Holiday Card Making Event 2021

After a long hiatus, my Make It Merry Holiday Crafting Event is back on a much smaller scale. I will be running this event (for 12 fully vaccinated participants only, thanks for understanding) at the beautiful Bridge Art Gallery in Bayonne on Saturday, November 13th from 10am - 5pm. 

This event is a FULL DAY Holiday Card Making workshop where you will make 12+ holiday cards. It's the perfect chance to spend some quality time with your favorite crafty peeps before the busy holiday season begins. We will be using the newest holiday products from Tim Holtz, Simon Says Stamp, Ranger Ink, Stampers Anonymous, Sizzix and Reverse Confetti. With all of these fun companies and different styles, you will have card ideas for everyone on your list! 

The event is limited to 12 participants, so be sure to sign up early to reserve your spot! If the event sells out and you want to be added to the waitlist, please email Cheiron.

• Date: Saturday, November 13th 10am-5pm (with a lunch break) 
• Cost: $125 per person (payment button at the bottom of this post)

tim holtz seasonal distress crayons cards

Hi there crafty friends! I hope you got to watch Tim's You Tube Live yesterday introducing you to the lovely new Seasonal Distress Crayons and showing some amazing products from so many makers. 

I was thrilled to be able to play around with these new Seasonal Distress Crayons and made 4 different cards that I am sharing with you today. All supplies are linked at the bottom of this post with affiliate links for your shopping convenience...at no additional cost to you. I truly appreciate you using these links :) 

For my first card, I stuck with a Halloween almost candy corn palette. I made a fun halloween slimline. To create my panel, I laid down bits of Halloween Idea-ology Ephemera using DIstress Collage Medium and overlapping the layers. I also added a layer of the Collage Medium over the top of the entire thing (this will help you smudge the crayons). I added the crayons, working them over the panel with my fingers. I added some stamping with Archival Distress Ink in Black Soot and the Media Marks 2 stamps. To finish the card, I added a Halloween Paper Doll and some bat wings from the Halloween Transparencies. 

For my second card, I created a traditional colored Christmas card. To me, there is nothing better than Distress Crayon over texture. I added Matte Texture Paste through the Tree Lot stencil. Once it was dry, I added a thin layer of Distress Collage Medium over the top of the entire panel. To finish the card, I added bits of Ephemera, stitching and a Christmas Mini Flair. The little dog was embossed with Frosted Crystal embossing powder to give it a matte finish. You can also color with crayons over the Frosted Crystal. I did also add some splatter with Crooked Broomstick crayon by scribbling the color onto my Glass Mat and picking it up with a paintbrush. The panel was matted on a piece of paper from the Idea-ology Christmas pocket cards. 

For the third card, a super easy one! I added a panel of printed Collage Paper to Distress watercolor cardstock with Distress Matte Medium and also went over the front of the panel with the Distress Matte Medium. I colored in around the squares and blended the colors with a damp finger. I added some stitching, Mirrored Stars colored with alcohol inks and a Sentiments Label Sticker. I matted the panel onto a piece of black Kraftstock where I had sanded the edges. 

For the final card, another fun technique. Coloring over ephemera that has been embossed with Frosted Crystal. This provides such a fun surface to color on. I embossed an Engraving Layer, then colored it in with my crayons and a waterbrush. I mounted it with foam tape onto a panel cut from Backdrops and added some Hardware Heads to the edges. I added a Metallic Sticker and some splatter to the card and mounted it onto a piece of Black Kraftstock.

simon says stamp monday challenge: fall colors mood board

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the Not a Card Challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too. This week we are challenging you to make something inspired by this gorgeous mood board designed by the lovely Zoey.

For today's card, I was inspired by fall leaves and wanted to use the new Leafy Leaves cling background to create a fall themed thank you card. I stamped and embossed the leaves onto a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock using white detail embossing powder. I sprayed my Distress Mica Stains over the panel and added some water using a Distress Sprayer. 

Once the panel was dry, I added it to a piece of Paper Bag cardstock and adhered the panel to the card using foam tape. I added a Swoopy Thank You die cut to finish my card.
