simon says stamp monday challenge: up in the air

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the Not A Card challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is Up In the Air, and I have created a small Tim Holtz Idea-ology Square Vignette Box. I covered the box with some paper from the Backdrops paper pack, added a Paper Dolls Portrait, some Transparent Things and a Clippings Sticker. For the background, I covered it with a bunch of Glittery Stars cut from the Falling Stars die and adhered them with Distress Collage Medium.

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the Texture challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week we are challenging you make anything that is NOT A CARD! This one was easy for me, I went with one of my favorite things, a mixed media tag. I used a Dina Wakley Media tag and colored with with Distress Inks and Oxides. I added the inks to my glass mat, picked them up with my Distress Sprayer and then dried the ink between layers. Then I adhered a piece of Typeset Collage Paper and stitched around my tag. I stamped some fun marks using the Media Marks 1 stamp set using Distress Archival Ink in Black Soot. To finish my tag, I added a Paper Doll...sitting on a ticket from Ticket Book. For the finishing touches, some Snippets ephemera, a Thoughts label sticker and a colored in floral Engraving Layers. Lots of fun layers that all seemed to come together.

simon says stamp monday challenge: add texture

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the Alcohol challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is Texture, and I love adding texture to my work. For the challenge I have created a tag with layers of texture including Collage Paper, Gesso, Texture Paste and Ephemera. 

I added the Collage Paper and Ephemera, then added gesso over my tag. Then I added Matte Texture Paste through the dotted stencil. Once the paste was dry I added Distress Spray Stains In WIld Honey, Salvaged Patina and Pumice Stone. Then to add more interest, I added stamping with the Grunged stamp set using Distress Archival Inks in Wild Honey and Hickory Smoke. To finish the tag, I added some Photobooth, Ephemera Snippets and a small talk sticker.

To make this card, I started by foiling the Dancing Butterflies Hot Foil Plates using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System and the Mini Rainbow Stripe Hot Foil and then cutting them out with the coordinating dies. I also cut and foiled the love using the Love Hot Foil Plate and the Love Shadow Wafer Dies. 

Once all of my pieces were foiled and cut, I arranged them on my slimline card that I covered with the Filigree Slim Plate. To finish it, I added a sentiment that I stamped on a card stock strip from the So Much Love stamp set. These foil and cut dies make it so easy to put an elegant card together in just a few minutes.

tim holtz sizzix: abstract faces notecard set

Hi there crafty friends! Today I have a little share for you of some cards I created using the Abstract Faces dies from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 2 release. I used these to make some fun and easy notecards that you could create for any occasion. 

This die set comes with all the pieces you need to create mix and match faces. Instead of making Abstract Faces, I cut the pieces out of all different materials: cork, foam and felt and used them to create small abstract collages. This would even be a great activity for kids to create cards with you if you cut all of the pieces in advance. To finish the cards, I added a Thoughts Label Sticker to each of them.

This week our challenge is Alcohol (Drinks and/or inks) and I took out the Alcohol Inks to create a few panels and play with some color combinations, and turned one of them into this card. I inked up my Yupo paper with the Alcohol Inks and once the panel was dry, stamped images from my favorite Media Marks 1 and Media Marks 2 sets in Distress Archival Inks. I finished the card by cutting the Make A Wish sentiment from the Bold Text 1 dies and then inlaying a few layers of the letters back in for a fun birthday card.

Today I have created a fun card for a purple loving friend featuring the new Roses stamp set and coordinating Confetti Cuts, paired with the new Friend Confetti Cuts. I also added the Brillance Panel and used the frame that came with the Roses Confetti cuts to cut it out and add a bit more texture. Once my image was colored, I added it to the card and added some Distress Foundry Wax in Gilded. I stamped and embossed the sentiment in gold to match and added a few black pearls to finish my card.

This week our challenge is Masculine and the design team is using products from Tim Holtz. I created a card using one of my favorite guys from the Paper Dolls Portraits. I placed him on a background that I made by embossing Black Alcohol Ink Cardstock with the Circuit Texture Fade and went over with Statue Foundry Wax. Then I created a small panel from one of my Backdrops 3 papers to build my collage using the Portraits Paper Doll, some Memoir Ephemera, Ephemera Snippets, Number Strips a Gauge Dial, and a Metallic Sticker. To complete it I added an Adornments Star, also colored with Foundry Wax and colored the Paper Doll a bit with Distress Crayons.
