simon says stamp monday challenge: back to school

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the Fabulous Floralsl challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is Back to School and I made a card about the only type of school I would go back to...art school! I used the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Artful Tools set along with some Distress Ink Blending, stamping with Black Soot Archival Ink and then splattering Distress Oxides on top. Finally I added a sentiment from Noteworthy. I think this is a great reminder to us that whatever you want to learn, you just need to Start Somewhere.

Hello there crafty friends! I am super excited to once again be joining Simon Says Stamp in a blog hop to celebrate their newest release - Dream Big. You can shop the new release now! You should have arrived here from the blog of the amazingly talented Bibi Cameron

Today I have used the new Fab Floral Plate die and the Be You Sentiment strips to make 3 cards with different looks. I hope there is something you like here :) See supply list at the bottom of this post for stamps, dies and colors. 

For the first card, I cut the Fab Floral Plate from white card stock and then cut it again from several colors of Simon Says Stamp card stock. I backed the white cutout with Sookwang double sided tape then inlaid all the small pieces color by color. Once the pieces were adhered I put the panel onto a card base. I added a gemstone to the center of each flower shape then added the sentiment strip. 

For the second card, I cut the Fab Floral Plate from black card stock and then added a piece of watercolor card stock underneath that I had colored with Lindy's Magicals and added a Be You Sentiment strip - super easy and all the colors make it look super festive. 



This last one was a labor of love. I cut the Fab Floral Plate from a piece of multicolored cardstock and then foam taped each tiny little piece to the card where I had added a white die cute of the plate to the card base to use as a guide. Once I carefully adhered each piece, I added a the Floral Stem die cut and a Be You Sentiment strip to complete my card.

get cracking on christmas: july 2022 & a christmas in july GIVEWAWAY!

Hi there crafty friends! It's time for another month of Get Cracking on Christmas, a super fun challenge that my friend Jenn Shurkus hosts to get you working on your Christmas cards all throughout the year. It's the perfect time to play with all of those Christmas stamps, dies and other fun products you have added just a few (hundred) things to my holiday collection. I have not had time to play along the past couple of months so today I am back with a small batch of cards to help build up the stash. I even have a separate bin that I have started to store my cards in, so when I need to start addressing them, they are all ready. 

Let's just take a moment here to celebrate 6 months of Get Cracking! I hope you are building a nice stash of holiday cards. The cards I created today were inspired by Jennifer McGuire's technique of putting papers she had created with Lindy's Magicals powders and then running them though embossing folders. I thought it would be a great time to try out all of my new colors of Magicals and turn them into cards. These powders are so fun, you just sprinkle a bit onto some Distress Watercolor Cardstock, mist with water and let them do their magic. The powders all seem to have a main color and lots of underlying colors that pop through when you spray them. I ran each colored panel through my die cut machine each with a different embossing folder and added a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp XL Christmas Greetings to each card, super easy and ready to embellish with other dies if I want to make any of them a bit fancier.

reverse confetti: july 2022 release hop

Hi there crafty friends! I am thrilled to be joining Reverse Confetti in a blog hop today to celebrate their newest release.This release is available now and features flowers, foiling and furry friends of the canine variety! There is a little something for everyone. Today I have used the Dog Days stamps along with the Dog Days sentiments to make a fun summer card for a friend. 

I created a slightly shorter slimline card to accommodate this row of pups having fun in the sun and combined the sentiments to make one long greeting. This card would be fun for any dog lover on your list!

simon says stamp monday challenge: fabulous florals

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the Red White and Blue challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is Fabulous Florals and I have created a fun and simple tag using the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Floral Elements stamps. To begin, I took a Distress Tag and stamped the Ledger Script onto it using Hickory Smoke Distress Archival Ink. Then I used Black Soot Distress Archival Ink and stamped the leaves and flowers all over the tag to make a pattern. I painted in the background with Twisted Citron Distress Ink and let it dry, then painted in the flowers. Once the tag was dry, I added black and white splatter, inked the edges of the tag and added a sentiment from the Noteworthy Stamp set.

tim holtz sizzix: chapter 3 release

Hi there crafty friends! I am so excited to share my project with you today featuring the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 3 release.  This release has so many dies that are sure to become staples in your making...mini envelopes, coin envelopes, tiny numbers, labels and more! I know these dies are perfect for all of your grungy products, but I think they are also great to make a rainbow too :) I combined several of the new Chapter 3 products to make this Vignette Card File filled with Happy Notes. Each of the notes will fit inside of the coin envelope but I left them out so you could see them all here.

To begin, I created my Vignette Card File. I painted the file black using Black Soot DIstress Paint. I used the new Numbered Texture Fade to cover the outside of the file. I cut it a few times to fit the file exactly, adhered it to file, then gave it a few coats of Black Soot Distress Paint, letting them dry in between. For the metal pull on the file, I wanted it to be silver so I added Sterling Foundry Wax, heat embossed it and scuffed it a bit. And for the tiny tab, I used the word "collect" from the Specimen die set. 

To make the envelopes, I cut the envelope from the Collector dies  out of Distress Watercolor cardstock and then colored each one by pressing some Distress Ink into my glass mat, spraying it with water and dipping the paper into the ink, drying and layering until I was pleased with the effect. I also did some tone on tone stamping using Distress Oxides and the Media Marks 1 and 2 stamps. To create the Happy Notes tab, I used a card from the Collector dies along with a tab and some little stars. I stamped the card with a stamp from the School Desk set to make it look like notebook paper. Then I cut the words HAPPY NOTES from the Alphanumeric Theory dies papers that I had colored with Distress Inks. I always have a little stash of these papers on hand for small projects like this. 


Each envelope has stamping in the same color of Distress Oxide, a label, and some kind of die cut object to go with the color scheme and sentiment. All of the dies that I used are shown in the SUPPLIES list below. For the inside of the envelopes, I created a little card or happy note. To create these I cut the cards from Distress Watercolor cardstock, added watercoloring onto each of the cards to match the envelopes. Then I stamped the cards with the same media marks as the envelopes and added a sentiment to each one from the Noteworthy stamp set to each one for a cohesive look.

This week our challenge is Red, White and/or Blue and the design team is using products from Paper Rose. I used some of their fun Arty Love papers to create my tag. They were the perfect background since they look like hand painted papers. I combined red and blue papers to make this tag. I cut the tag using the Tag Framelits. Then I cut shapes from the Media Marks and Falling Stars dies. I attached all of the pieces with a tiny attacher to make it super easy. I cut the Countdown number from red paper and added it to a seal that I cut with the Sizzix Seal Switchlits. 

To finish the tag, I added white and Foundry Wax splatter in Sterling. Finally, I added a sentiment from the Noteworthy stamp set.
