This week our challenge is Emboss It and I have used the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Batground stencil along with Texture Paste and Distress Embossing Glaze to give a little batty texture to my tag.

simon says stamp monday challenge: die cuts

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the Stamp It challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is Die Cuts...super fun and easy and I hope you will play along. I used one of the backgrounds that I had created while playing with my DIstress Watercolor Pencils and stencils last week and added some die cut flowers from the Modern Floristry dies. Then I used the pencils and a Detailer Water Brush to color in and shade my die cuts which helps them really pop! I finished the card with a sentiment from the Noteworthy stamp set.

Ideas for Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils shavings and a custom palette! (NEW You Tube Video)

Hi there crafty friends. I got quite a few questions on what you could do with the DIstress Watercolor Pencil shavings once you sharpened them. Since the pencils are woodless and are made of pigment, there are so many things you can do with them. I have a new You Tube video up today with some ideas and also a custom palette that I created so I can always save and reuse my shavings for future projects.

Hello crafty friends. Today I have a new video over on my You Tube Channel using the new Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils to create a variety of different collage papers. I hope you will stop over and take a look. After creating the collage papers, I show you how to turn them into this fun tag book! While you are there, I would love if you subscribed :) 

Collage Paper 1: Mixed Media Paper painted with Antique Linen DIstress Ink. Colored through the stencil with pencils and went over the marks with a detailer waterbrush.  

Collage Paper 2: Create marks through stencil with pencil on ledger paper. Spray paper with water, smudge some of the marks and dry with heat tool. 


Collage Paper 3: Color through stencil with lighter pencil, fill in shape. Shade with darker pencil and then blend with waterbrush. 


Collage Paper 4: Create a print onto deli paper with Distress Paint using a gelli plate. Let dry. Stencil marks (gently) onto the paper using a tone on tone palette. Go over marks with waterbrush.

This week our challenge is Stamp It and the design team is using products from Simon Says Stamp in order to celebrate STAMPtember! This week our challenge is to use a stamp...and I have saved the stamping for the inside of my card, because who would want to cover up those Etched Oak Leaves? 

I combined some Distress Ink Etched Oak Leaves inked with my favorite fall colors of Distress inks with the Handwritten Hello cut from Tim Holtz Metallic Kraftstock. I foam taped all the leaves to the panel, turned it over and trimmed off the edges and then added a splattering of Distress Foundry Wax then heat set it for some more interest.

Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils & a new You Tube Video!

Hello crafty friends! I hope you got a chance to catch Tim’s You Tube Live yesterday with the reveal of the brand new Distress Product…Distress Watercolor Pencils. I am so happy to have a new medium in the Distress line and can’t wait to share more with you using these awesome pencils. These are available and shipping now from Simon Says Stamp.

What are Distress Watercolor Pencils? They are woodless watercolor pencils with water reactive pigments that are great for coloring on porous surfaces. They can be layered with most of the Distress products that you already know and love…including Distress Inks, Distress Oxides, Distress Sprays and Distress Paints.

There are 3 sets of pencils available now and each set contains 12 pencils, the pencils come in a tin with a removable lid for great portability, but who I am I kidding you know I took all the sets out of the tins and mixed them all together already.

One thing that I am most excited about is that these pencils match the colors of Distress, which are my favorite colors to work with and it takes all the guess work out of it. I have had a chance to play with them a bit and can’t wait to share what I have made in the coming week. I have a quick video to share with you today that shows a couple of ways I have used them so far. 

 

I have shared a few techniques in this video on coloring your die cuts, adding some color to sentiments, and making some mixed media papers. I have tons more to share and a fun project (and new video) coming later this week!

Now onto the cards! These cards are all created using the Overlapping Drops Background Cling stamp and a greeting stamped and cut from the Christmas Blessings stamp and die set. 


To create this card, I embossed the Overlapping Drops background in clear embossing powder, and sprayed it with the new Tim Holtz Distress Mica stains before adding the Etched Eucalyptus Wreath die and sentiment from the Christmas Blessings set.

This one is super simple and festive, stamp and emboss both the Overlapping Drops and the sentiment from the Christmas Blessings set in Silver Tinsel Embossing Powder.

Silver Tinsel Embossing Powder 


For this card, I stamped and embossed the Overlapping Drops and Christmas Blessings sentiment in Gold Embossing Powder. Then I painted in some of the drops with gold watercolors and added a few metallic drops for extra sparkle.

For my final card, I embossed the Overlapping Drops in clear, and colored them in using Karin Metallic Markers and added just a bit of splatter to make it more fun.
