Hello there crafty friends! Today I am thrilled to be sharing some cards that I created playing with the newest April My Monthly Hero release from Hero Arts. The My Monthly Hero release for April is a fun, eclectic mix of florals and mixed media (which is right up my alley)! There are two kits available:
Classic Kit:
The Classic Kit includes a 6" x 8" stamp set full of elements to mix and match for creating flower clusters, vases filled with blooms, and interesting patterns - either in the background or right on the flowers and vases themselves! Two red rubber cling stamps add even more pattern options. There are dies to cut out all of the elements, including the messages. An exclusive washi tape with a handwritten script pattern can be added to your design or on your envelopes, and four Core Ink cubes round out this version of the kit.
Premium Kit:
The Premium Kit includes a 6" x 8" stamp set full of elements to mix and match for creating flower clusters, vases filled with blooms, and interesting patterns - either in the background or right on the flowers and vases themselves! Two red rubber cling stamps add even more pattern options. There are dies to cut out all of the elements, including the messages. An exclusive washi tape with a handwritten script pattern can be added to your design or on your envelopes, and four Core Ink cubes round out the items also available in the Classic version of this kit. The star of this upgraded Premium Kit are the Fancy Dies to cut out vases, greenery, and blooms. The options for die and color combinations are endless! Decorate the vases with the stamps, or use the fun doodle stencil included. The final element is a great set of enamel stickers, which match the fun & funky collage theme of this kit release!
I created a fun set of cards using this release, to resemble floral paintings. I gave each card a background using matte acrylic paint, added some stenciling to each one and added a few doodles using gel pens to give each card a real mixed media feel. I added some scratching into the paint and some texture paste to some of the vases for even more interest.
I stamped the sentiments over painted panels in the same colors as the backgrounds, then stamped the sentiment using Black Soot Archival Ink. I cut each panel to 3 3/4 x 5 and mounted it on an A2 card. It was super fun to experiment with a bunch of color schemes and I love the look of the matte paints.
I hope these cards give you some ideas for using these kits and stretching your supplies to create cards with tons of color and texture!
