tim holtz christmas idea-ology: ephemera christmas tree frame

Hi there crafty friends! The rest of this week, I will be sharing all of the projects I created with the Tim Holtz Christmas Idea-ology products. The first one is a super easy and simple home decor piece that anyone can make. I took an Idea-ology Framed Panel and arranged a bunch of different Idea-ology Ephemera elements in the shape of a tree. The panel comes in two parts (the frame and the flat base panel) so it is super easy alter and adhere together.


To begin, I took a Framed Panel and painted the outside frame piece with Candied Apple DIstress Paint. Once the paint was completely dry, I used a soft cloth to rub a bit of the Sizzix Luster Wax over the raised areas of the panel. For the main background piece, I covered it with a piece of Idea-ology Backdrops paper that looks like a real piece of fabric...I adhered the paper to the panel with Distress Collage Medium with a Distress Collage Brush.

Once the paper was dried, I adhered the frame to the panel with the Distress Collage Medium. Now it's time for the fun part. I took the different ephemera out of the packages that I wanted to use and gave them a little extra distressing with some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink using a foam blending tool. Once my pieces were distressed, I placed them onto the panel to figure out the spacing. For these pieces I used a combination of: Christmas Ephemera, Christmas Mini Flair, Christmas Label Stickers and Christmas Baseboards. 

After I figured out the placement, I adhered each piece of Ephemera/stickers/pins etc to the panel using foam tape. Now I have a fun piece to hang in my home for years to come. It is as simple and easy as that and would even be a great project to create with kids! simon says stamp monday challenge: not a card

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the Touchy Feely Challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too. This week our challenge theme is Not a Card and the Design Team is using products from Stamperia. I used the Stamperia Silver Contour liner and it was the the perfect touch to add some dimension and shine to my ornaments.

For this tag, I sprayed my tag cut from Distress Mixed Media White Heavystock with Antique Linen Distress Spray and dried it with a heat tool. Once it was dry, I stamped the words from the Stripes and Holiday set over it. Then I used Black Soot Archival Ink to stamp the ornaments and sentiment from the Festive Sketch stamp set, I used the trim stamp from the Patchwork Pieces stamps to create the 'strings' to hang the ornaments. I colored in the ornaments with Distress Oxides and added splatter to the tag in the same colors using the Oxides and a wet paintbrush. 

I dried the tag and stitched around the outside of it to add some texture. Finally, I added a Stitched Scrap to the top of the tag and then added the Silver Contour liner to the ornaments and let it dry as recommended for a couple of hours!

Hello crafty friends, welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thank you to all that joined us last week for our Bright, Cheerful Colors challenge and we hope you will join us again this week! This week our challenge is 'Add A Quote' and I have done that using Tim Holtz Mini Marquee Letters and Small Talk. I took a piece of White DIstress Mixed Media Heavystock and colored it with Distress Spray Stains in Salvaged Patina, Tattered Rose, Kitsch Flamingo and Pumice Stone. I love the candy colors this combination makes! 

When the panel was dry, I adhered it to a #8 Etcetera tag using Distress Collage Medium. I added some stamping and stenciling to the tag and then added a piece of Crochet that I had die cut, a Paper Doll and the sentiment. Then I splattered the entire tag with Distress Paints in Picket Fence and Black Soot.

tim holtz idea-ology: painters vignette tray

Hi there crafty friends! Today I am sharing one of the projects that I made for the latest Tim Holtz Idea-ology release. I created this colorful tray inspired by the Advert Vignette panel used on the bottom of this tray to make a box inspired by painting supplies. I wanted to create a bunch of colorful bottles of paint to add to this project. Let me walk you through the basics...all supplies are listed at the bottom of the post : ) 

To begin, I took my Vignette Tray and painted the entire thing with Black Soot DIstress Paint and lightly sanded it. When the paint was dry, I lined the inside of the box with the beautiful marbled looking paper from the Backdrops 1 paper pack, adhering it with Distress Collage Medium (Matte). Once the paper was adhered, I built out the bottom of the tray. I added the Advert Vignette, which fit perfectly in this box, adding some layers of chipboard behind it to pop it out. I added a piece of Etcetera Pinked Trims to the top of my panel and adhered some Hardware Heads directly to the panel. 

The next thing I did was create the colorful bottles, I wanted them to have the look of liquid, but not be liquid and spill everywhere. I got the idea for using resin from miniature dollhouse drink bottles on Pinterest. To create the bottles, I painted each one with a thin layer of the Distress Matte Medium and let them dry. I mixed up some resin (per the package instructions and poured a little into 7 tiny plastic cups. To color the resin, I added the tiniest drop of Distress Paint to each cup by picking up the paint with the end of a wooden toothpick and stirring it in.  I poured each color into a different bottle and let it dry. To get the corks to stay on, I dipped the bottom of each cork into the corresponding resin color and put into the top of the bottle to dry and harden. To finish the bottles I added different numbers: some Remnant Rubs, some Clippings stickers and some Label Stickers with Remnant Rubs. 

Once the bottles were put into place, I wanted to create a focal element for the tray. I embossed one of the Lace Baseboard Frames with Broken China Distress Embossing Glaze, and backed it with a piece of pattered paper. I added a Paper Doll, some Clippings stickers, one of the new Engraving Layers, and a Mini Flair. I topped the tag with a Factory Tag where I had colored in the letters with a Picket Fence Distress Crayons. I used two long fasteners to attach the tag. I popped the frame up on tiny wooden blocks and adhered the frame to the inside of the box. Finally, I added a knob from the Mini Hardware to the top of the box. I hope you enjoyed this colorful painty project. I really like how the Laboratory and Corked Vials turned out, and can't wait to try them out on future projects.

tim holtz sizzix chapter 1: good luck to you today

Hi there crafty friends! I don't know about you but I am ready for St. Patty's Day...I can't wait for my annual bowl of Lucky Charms :) Today I am sharing a fun home decor frame project that I created for the Tim Holtz Sizzix 2021 Chapter 1 release using the new Lucky Love 3D Impresslit die. Not only does this die cut the Heart and Shamrock shapes, it gives them a wonderful 3D texture too! 

For this home decor project, I kept it pretty basic with a repeating pattern, and one die cut of a different color to draw your eye to the sentiment. To begin I painted a Framed Panel with Antique Linen Distress Paint. I adhered a piece of paper from the Collage Paper Stash using matte Collage Medium and a Distress Collage Brush. If you have not used one of these frames before, the frame and the panel are separate pieces, so we will add the frame back on at the end :)

 I added a bit of Dina Wakley gesso and Distress Crackle Paste in spots over the patterned paper. While the paper was drying, I created my shamrocks. 

To create the shamrocks I used the Lucky Love 3D Impresslits.  I cut 11 of them from DIstress Watercolor Cardstock pieces that I misted lightly with water using my DIstress Sprayer and one from Metallic Gold Kraft Stock. Then using my Splat Box, I sprayed the watercolor card stock shamrocks with Distress Spray Stains in Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover and Rustic Wilderness. Do you need all three? I say yes! It gives the shamrocks a more natural look with the variation of colors. Some of the spray pooled up on my shamrocks and I used a paintbrush to move any really big puddles around. I dried all of the watercolor paper shamrocks with a heat tool and then inked the edges of them with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. Now it is time to assemble. I planned out where the shamrocks should go and made a mark on my paper with a pencil. 

I applied foam squares to the back of each shamrock (make sure you get foam under each of the leaves so they stand up evenly) and adhered all but the gold one. I then splattered Distress Paint in Tarnished Brass and Picket Fence over the entire piece using a Splatter Brush. When the paint was dry, I adhered the gold Metallic shamrock and then added the sentiment from the Clippings stickers on top of it. As the last step, I glued the frame to the piece with matte DIstress Collage Medium. 

I hope you enjoyed this fun project. It's a great one for St. Patty's day or to have a little luck all year long...

Hi crafty friends, welcome to this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thank you for joining us us for last week's use your favorite stamp challenge and celebrating Stamptember with us! This week our challenge is Frame It and I have used the Tim Holtz Deco Frames along with the Halloween Idea-ology Curiosities Sticker Book as the focal point of my tag...they work perfectly together!

Creating the background for my tag was easy....I used a piece of Worn Wallpaper and adhered it to a tag that I cut from the Sizzix Stacked Tags and layered onto another tag cut from Distress Mixed Media Heavystock. I stiched loosely around the edges and then built up some layers with Halloween Baseboards and Halloween Ephemera. 


To finish my tag, I added a Clippings sticker (included in the sticker book), Heirloom Florals, Heirloom Roses and used a Splatter Brush to Splatter DIstress Paint in Black Soot and Crackling Campfire. As the final touch, I tied a piece of Mummy Cloth to the tag that I had colored black using Black Soot DIstress Spray Stain.

tim holtz/stampers anonymous halloween: creepy eye card

Hi there crafty friends! Today I am sharing a card with the new Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Halloween stamps. This may be just about the creepiest card I have ever made in my life and I really love it. The image from the new Dearly Departed stamp set and the Idea-ology Creepy Eye just pair so well together. Let me walk you through how this card came about. 

First, I created a panel of DIstress Watercolor Cardstock using Distress Spray Stains in Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap. I dried the panel with my Ranger heat tool and then stamped the image from the Dearly Departed set in Distress Black Soot Archival Ink. I also stamped the image on another piece of watercolor cardstock (that will be the one we are going to cut out). On the main panel, I stamped the little number image from the Examination stamp set. 


I colored the image on both of the panels with Distress Ink Reinkers and a Detailer Waterbrush. Then I added Layers of watercolor wash using Weathered Wood and Pumice Stone Reinkers around the image. I also added some splatters of water and Frayed Burlap. I carefully cut out the inside of the eye from the face image with an X-acto knife. Then I cut the rest of the image out with my small Tonic scissors. I used foam tape to adhere the image to the one stamped on the main panel and added a Creepy Eye to the center. 



Once the panel was complete, I inked the edges and added it to a piece of Blackout Kraft Core cardstock that I had distressed with a sanding block. Hope this card didn't creep you out too much, and that you loved it as much as I do!

Hi crafty friends, welcome to this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thank you for joining us for the Spritz and Splatter Challenge last week and we hope you will all join us again this week too. This week our challenge is It's A Dogs Life Challenge.  

This week I have created a mixed media tag featuring tons of Tim Holtz Idea-ology products, the focal point being a Baseboard Doll of a boy and his dog. To create this project, I covered a Mini Etcetera Tag with Worn Wallpaper. Then I took a Vignette Panel and painted it with Antique Linen Distress Paint (I gave it about 3 coats). Once the panel was dry, I added Distress Crackle Paste around the edges of the panel and let it dry. When it was dry and had cracked, I added some Frayed Burlap Distress Crayon over the cracked paste and smoothed it in with my fingertips.

 

Once my Vignette Panel was dry, I added my focal elements including a: Baseboard Doll, Vintage Flair, Stencil Chip, Clippings Stickers, Junk Drawer Baseboards and Urban Layers. I added Hardware Heads to the corners of the panel. 


I adhered the panel onto my Mini Etcetera tag, and then added a Quote Chip to the bottom of the piece and a Vintage Clip to the top of the tag.

Hi crafty friends, welcome to this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thank you for joining us for the Steampunk Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too. This week we are having fun with spring and making projects inspired by this Spring Mood Board.

The lovely Macarena has made this gorgeous mood board for our inspiration!

 

For my card this week, I was in inspired by the lovely spring flowers. It always feels like spring to me when the flowers start to bloom. I used the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Bouquet stencil over a Distress Mixed Media Heavystock Panel that was inked and stamped with Tiny Text. I then added DIstress Crackle Texture Paste through a stencil and added Embossing Glaze over the top. When it was dry, I embossed it with a heat tool. I added some Photobooth, Ephemera and a Quote Chip.
