get cracking on christmas: october 2020

Continuing along with my goal to 'Get Cracking on Christmas' all year long, by creating my Christmas cards with a few crafty friends throughout the year! If you want to see how it all started, go to my original post here.  

This month, I decided to make a special card for one of my favorite kids using the new Mama Elephant Gingerbread Cookies stamps and dies and the Big Oh So Jolly Creative cuts. I love to make Christmas cards in more non-traditional colors and this bright pink and Evergreen Bough combo was just what I needed...

To create this card, I inked up the panel die from the Hexastar Creative Cuts in Evergreen Bough (with a bit of Lucky Clover on the edges) and splattered it with some water using a Distress Sprayer. I cut and colored the images with Copic markers, then die cut the Oh So Jolly three times from Hero Arts Azalea cardstock and glued all three together to created a stacked element using my Lawn Fawn glue tube. I layered the panel and the cookies to the card with foam tape and that was it! I think a few more of these cards are in my future!

This month I created a Christmas card for my favorite 12 year old in soft colors....I used the brand spanking new Mama Elephant Let's Go Caroling stamps and dies. I just love these little critters and all the fun elements in the set that help you create a scene...

 
I stamped and embossed the background with one of my favorite sets from last year, Holly's Snowflakes, then inked up the background with Distress Oxides in Spun Sugar and Dried Marigold, then stamped the sentiment. I added some glitter snow and the Framed Lafayette die, then built my singing scene inside the frame.

Today, I created a card with a little bit of a non-traditional color palette, using hot pink and teal along with my green. I just love the illustration style of this Whimsical Winter set from Mama Elephant. And the Puffy Holiday Greetings are the perfect sentiments to go with them! I only got to make one of these cards this month, but I will try to stamp a few more before I put all my supplies away :)

simon says stamp monday challenge: make a wish

This week the theme for the challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is Make A Wish!

 

I made this little tag this week as a reminder to keep on believing. I started off by painting two tags with Distress Paint in Mustard Seed and Victorian Velvet, and cutting one with the Mixed Media 2 die and layering them together. I added Alphanumeric Marquee letters, some remnant rubs, big chat and a mirrored star. I finished the tag up with some Crinkle Ribbon colored with Distress Stain and a spritz with my marker spritzer.

All Occasion Mama Elephant Cards
Thursday, December 3^rd 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

I am back at The Ink Pad on Thursday, December 3rd to teach my last class of the year. I'll be using lots of fun stamps and dies from Mama Elephant. We will explore several coloring techniques using Copics, Zig Clean Color markers and more. No holiday cards here, just a night of fun stamping and relaxing coloring. We’ll also learn how to use the FUSE tool to create a fun shaker card…wait until you try it out for yourself!

stenciled: day 4

Day 4 of Stenciled and it's got to be my favorite day yet! So inspired in the classroom today by Shari Carroll and her gelli printing that I decided to break out my gelli plate and make some fun prints of my own. I turned this one into a fun card using another technique shown in Day 1 of adding string and vellum behind your sentiment :

I had so much fun playing with paints and the gelli plate and I got a lot of fun pulls that I can use on plenty of other cards and projects. I just love the colors and how these stencils look together.

I can't believe I am saying this, but it is entirely possible that I have TOO MANY stamps! I have decided rather that add more shelves to my space, I will offer some of my stamps (at very reasonable prices that include shipping) to folks that will give them a good home.
