his & hers: day 1 (distress ink watercolor backgrounds for him & her)

Just catching on my homework for the newest Online Card Class His & Hers. This is a class I have definitely been waiting for since I always need ideas for guy cards and love to find new ways to use the supplies I already have. These classes certainly inspire you to do just that. 

I have been playing with a lot of paints and Distress stains lately so I thought I would make some Distress resist backgrounds with patterns for him and her but try to keep some of the elements similar like the stamp, emboss resist and the washi.

tuesday trigger: type hype!

Finally...time to play with a Tuesday Trigger on Moxie Fab World. It's definitely been a while, and I am glad to be back! I love this typewriter-wouldn't be nice to have one of these?

These keys are so fun! I might even be happy if I had to type all day on this beauty. When I saw this, I immediately knew I would have to incorporate this new Best of the Best stamp set into my card somehow. Those keys reminded me of the letter stamps included in this set :

These alphabet stamps are the perfect match for the typewriter keys...now to work them into my card:

tuesday trigger: watercolor butterflies

This dress is the inspiration for this week's Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World. Love the colors and the watercolor pattern, so I thought I would take out my Distress Inks and water brush and see what I could do! I painted a watercolor paper strip with the colors in the dress and added a butterfly embellishment. This layout is from a sketch featured in this month's contest over on the Hero Arts blog:

For the butterfly, I colored acetate with alcohol inks. To make the butterfly look more "real", I stamped a butterfly body on white cardstock from this set so it would show through.

tuesday trigger: three little birds

After seeing this week's Tuesday Trigger over on Moxie Fab this afternoon I have had the song running through my head all day. When I sat down to make my card tonight, different lyrics came into my head and I was inspired simply by the birds and their colors to make this card:

This week's Tuesday Trigger? A sweet surprise. This one is so simple, I was not sure where to start. I took my inspiration from the embossing like pattern on the box by embossing my background in white and adding blue ribbon treatment of my own and a pretty sentiment...that's it!

tuesday trigger: simple elegance

This week's Tuesday Trigger over on Moxie Fab World? Simple Elegance. My card is inspired by the rug and the gorgeous pink of the tulips. Why is it that the simpler triggers are harder for me? I think I played it safe on this one, but I still love this spring flower: 

clean & simple saturday feathers

Really simple one layer card for this Saturday. Feather stamps, sentiment, watercolor. I had a little "incindent" and got some watercolor on my finished card and decided to add an allover splatter. I am not usually a splatter kind of gal, but I liked the way it looked and decided while I had the paints out to make a little set of these cards instead of starting over. Also entering this in the Moxie Fab World Fascination with Feathers Challenge.
