tuesday trigger: home sweet home

What a sweet little Tuesday Trigger over on Moxie fab World this week. I love the handmade/patchwork feel of this little pillow. I love all the fun details of this little house (the polka dot roof, the woodgrain door and the little button knob) and tried to recreate it in my card for this week. I took it pretty literally and went with the house as my inspiration-not super original, but I still think it's pretty cute!

I stamped these little houses from Claudine Hellmuth onto sticky back canvas and then paper pieced most of the little details, and painted one house in with Mustard Seed Distress ink that I had put onto my craft sheet and sprayed with water. I added the numbers to mimic the ruler/chimney that is in the photo and also to give the card a more collage-y look. The sentiment is from this Hero Arts set. I think this will be a great card to give to a hostess next time I stay at someone's house.  

tuesday trigger: chiclectic

Time for another Tuesday Trigger over on Moxie Fab World. This one was definitely a fun one!

I was drawn to so many things in this picture: the black & white pattern, the bold pops of orange, pink and turquoise, and the gold bed frame sticking out above and below. I hunted through my stash of paper pads to find similar patterns, stamped and embossed the Fabulous Flourish. I added the doily die for a pop of pink.

I would never have put these colors together, but I really like how they came out on the card.  Here is my take on this week's inspiration photo:

I saw this picture last week on this post from Cath over on the Moxie Fab World blog, and have been wanting to make a card based on it ever since. I finally got a little crafty time today and this is what I came up with using one of my stamps from last month's Studio Calico add on, and if you have not seen it over on the Sudio Calico Blog, it looks like this stamp is going to be available as part of their CHA reveal!

I usually take the stamps out of the kit each month and put them in a drawer, but I thought it was time they got a little ink. I love the colors in the photo and thought I would watercolor in the sections, mist it with Calico Shine Mr. Huey's and make a little embellishment. Sending big hugs to you Cath and I hope that you are feeling as Moxie Fab as ever real soon! 

tuesday trigger: winter blossoms

Time for my first Tuesday Trigger of the New Year! Here is the inspiration photo of some fabulous pretty pom-poms:
I just love all that fluff! It puts me in a party mood. My card for this trigger was based on two elements: the layers and the colors.

I used the Starburst stamp from Hero Arts to create my blooms, stamped them twice and cut them out. I also used the stamp to add some texture to the background by stamping and clear embossing it. You can see the detail here:

Just playing along with the Map to Your Heart Challenge over on Moxie Fab World. I have been holding onto this pretty piece of Cavallini & Co. wrapping paper for a while. I thought it would make a pretty gift box to hold a Valentine present, but also something to keep as a decorative item.

I covered a paper box with the map pieces, then added a Tim Holtz curio knob and some fun flowery ribbon to the lid to go along with the Paris feel. Think of all the fun things you could put in it -perfume, jewelry, maybe even tickets to Paris!

tuesday trigger: stripe-tastic!

When I saw this week's Tuesday Trigger, I knew it would be a hard one for me:

I picked the two elements that really stood out to me: the stripes (of course) and the lace collar. The colors also reminded me of a party or a carnival, so I made the card a little festive. All my stripes are made with washi tape. It is hard to see in the photo, but the white tape has a lace pattern on it, which reminded me of the collar. 

   

Glad I got to play along with one more Tuesday Trigger before the New Year. We have been puppy sitting for the past week, and someone has been keeping me really busy! Happy 2012! 

tuesday trigger: red and rustic

It's time for another Tuesday Trigger. This week is red and rustic over on Moxie Fab World. Here is this week's inspiration. I had good intentions of getting to this one early, but here's another last minute entry! 

I love the wood and canvas textures in the photo and decided to focus on that, adding in touches of brown and red. I started out with a card panel made of sticky back canvas, and stamped it with the Hero Arts Stitched Greeting (which is a little hard to see in the photo). For the wood, I used some trees and finished my card off with some red striped ribbon, and a wooden button. It will be perfect when I need a "holiday" card! 

the championing award medallions challenge (another one)

Another card for the Championing Award Medallions Challenge over on Moxie Fab World. The challenge is to create a paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates a three-dimensional medallion or award medallion in an innovative way.

I don't know how innovative this is, but I really like it. I thought this medallion (made of foil origami paper) would be perfect for a New Year's Card. I wanted to make a multicolor medallion using all the colors in the package, so I had to make my own "paper". For this card I used the Tim Holtz Paper Rosette die. To make my multicolor paper, I cut the paper into strips and pieced it together in the back with washi tape to hold it together.

the championing award medallions challenge

Just playing along with the Championing Award Medallions Challenge over on Moxie Fab World. The challenge is to create a paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates a three-dimensional medallion or award medallion in an innovative way. I absolutely love the look of medallions, but don't always think to make them. 

I have had this little book around for a while, just waiting to be decorated. I thought it would make a great little travel journal for a visitor. 

If you look closely, you can see that the paper my medallion is made of a subway map.

Add a little $1 souvenir button, and you are all set!
