simon says stamp monday challenge: thanks/thanksgiving

This week our challenge is Thanks/Thanksgiving and I have created a thank you card that uses Thanksgiving-ish colors. I used the Twining Berries Embossing Folder along with the Privet Branch die and the Fancy Thanks die in fun fall-ish colors.

This week our challenge is add some texture and the design team is using some products from Katzelkraft. I used the Snowman Kisses stamps and combined them with one of my favorite Tim Holtz Sizzix snowmen of all time, Winston. I gave my card lots of texture using ripped Distress Watercolor Cardstock and Snowfall Grit Paste.

simon says stamp monday challenge: christmas

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the  challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is Christmas and I have combined the Tim Holtz Sizzix Trim A Tree along with the Winter Woodlands stamps to create this colorful rainbow tree tag.

I tried to take some step by step photos this week in case you want to follow along! 


Step 1: Cut some panels of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Inside of a Splat Box, spray them with Distress Mica Stains and let dry or dry with a heat tool. 


Step 2: Lay out all the pieces for each tree, and ink the edges with a contrasting color of Distress Ink. I'll share all the colors I used below. 


Step 3: To create smaller trees just "trim" the tree under the score line on the more solid images. See Tim's You Tube on how to do this over on his video (about min 24:40) in the video. 

Step 4: To get the edges of those layers extra inky, slide a piece of scrap paper underneath while you are inking :) Then adhere all your tree pieces together. 


Step 5: Colors to shade edges: Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, Fossilized Amber, Rustic Wilderness 

Step 6: Colors to shade edges: Lucky Clover, Uncharted Mariner, Dusty Concord

Step 7: Stamp background stamp from Rustic wilderness onto a 3 3/4 x 6 panel using Pumice Stone Distress Oxide. 

Step 8: Emboss image using Pumice Stone Distress Embossing Glaze and emboss with embossing heat tool. Repeat two more times so you have 3 of these panels. 

Step 9: Create woodgrain panels for your background (I did this but in the end found it was not necessary because it all got covered up). Cut woodgrain paper into 1 1/2 inch strips and ink the edges, then cover your medium Etcetera Tag. 

Step 10: Trim excess off of tag, sand edges with a sanding disk to make them smooth and ink the outside edges of your tag with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

Step 11: Spray the embossed panels with Pumice Stone Distress Spray Stain and let dry or dry with heat tool. 

Step 12: Add stands to bottom of trees (I sprayed mine with Pumice Stone Distress Spray Stain and Frozen Fog Distress Mica Stain). 

Step 13: Add panels to tag...one will hang off. Stamp and emboss sentiment from Winter Woodlands and add to tag. 

Step 15: Adhere trees to panel. I used super sticky foam dots. 

Step 16: Add Hardware Heads colored with Mushroom Alcohol Ink to panels, Add Snowfall Grit Paste to bottom of panels using a palette knife and then splatter the entire tag with Sterling Foundry Wax, being careful to avoid your sentiment (I covered mine up while splattering). Let the whole thing dry completely and hang it up to enjoy some holiday cheer!

simon says stamp monday challenge: what's your favorite color?

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the  challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is What's Your Favorite color? You know I love them all, so I created a project in a pinkish palette of fall colors that I am loving right now. I used the Simon Says Stamp Artsy Pumpkins, along with the Arched French Doors as my focal point. I stamped the pumpkins in Simon Says Stamp Inks using Citrine, Cheeky and Guava. I also ink blended a panel of cardstock with these same colors, cut it out with the Nested Domed Arches and then put it behind my door with a piece of vellum over it to soften the colors. Then I placed the window and pumpkins on top of a panel embossed with the Vines embossing folder for some texture.

simon says stamp monday challenge: take flight

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is Take Flight and I have created a fun card using the CZ Design Witch Please stamps and Witch Please word die. To begin I used the Tim Holtz Moon Mask and adhered it to my Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Then I blended Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Dried Marigold, Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Dusty Concord to create this fun pink sky. Once the ink was dry, I stamped the witch from the Witch Please set over the moon I created and embossed it in black. Then I splattered the panel with Statue Foundry Wax and white splatter then dried my panel with a heat tool. 

Once the panel was complete, I cut it with the Wonky Rectangles die and mounted it to a card base using foam tape. Then I added some Magic Stars cut from black cardstock, and the Witch Please die with some foam tape behind it to complete my card.

simon says stamp monday challenge: use your favorite technique

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for playing along with us last week in the  challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too :) 

This week our challenge is Use Your Favorite Technique and I have used one of the very first (and still favorite techniques) that I learned...Distress Ink Blending. I cut a tag from Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I blended Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Saltwater Taffy, Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet. I sprayed them with water using a Distress Sprayer, lightly blotted them with a towel and then dried the tag with my heat tool. 

Once my tag was dry, I stamped it with images from the Floral Outline set using Black Soot Archival Distress Ink. Once the ink was dry, I ran the tag through the Dotted 3D Texture Fades to give it even more texture. To finish my tag, I added some stitching and a sentiment from the Noteworthy stamp set.

We are also using products from AALL + Create and would love you to use them to if you own some :) For my project today, I created a festive mixed media tag using the AALL + Create Starry Night Stencil along with some Distress Opaque Texture Paste. I embossed the paste with Kitsch Flamingo Distress Embossing Glaze, then I added Distress Spray Stains in Kitsch Flamingo, Squeezed Lemonade and Tumbled Glass. I added some Ephemera Snippets, a Paper Doll and some Mirrored Stars that I colored with Mushroom Alcohol Ink.

This week our challenge is we can see clearly and I have created a fun mixed media tag using layers of Distress Paint, Gesso and Distress Spray Stains. I added a big moth from Transparent Layers along Palette Ephemera and Organic Layers. To finish my tag, I added a small talk sticker.
